This page will contain detailed upgrade instructions for future versions of Shop Craft. Currently, Shop Craft does not have an automated upgrade system — this will be added in a future release.
Coming Soon
Upgrade instructions will be published here when new versions of Shop Craft are released. Check back after future updates, or follow the Shop Craft announcements for release notifications.
General Upgrade Advice
While a formal upgrade process is not yet available, here are some best practices to follow when updating your Shop Craft installation in the future:
Always Back Up First
Before making any changes to your store, create a complete backup:
Back up your database
- In cPanel, go to phpMyAdmin
- Select your Shop Craft database
- Click Export and download the SQL file
Back up your files
- In cPanel File Manager, select your entire Shop Craft directory
- Click Compress to create a ZIP archive
- Download the archive to your computer
Never Skip Backups
Always create a full backup before upgrading. If something goes wrong during the upgrade, you can restore your store from the backup. Without a backup, you risk losing your products, orders, and customer data.
Keep Track of Customizations
If you have made any changes to your store's files (such as editing theme files or configuration), make a note of what you changed. Upgrades may overwrite modified files, so you may need to re-apply your customizations afterward.
Check the Release Notes
Each new version of Shop Craft will include release notes describing:
- New features added
- Bugs fixed
- Any special steps required during the upgrade
- Whether a database migration is needed
Always read the release notes before upgrading so you know what to expect.
Test on a Staging Environment
If possible, test the upgrade on a copy of your store before applying it to your live site. This helps you catch any issues before they affect your real customers.
